The end.

Before this course, I thought social software was mostly for recreational purposes.  I only used it to keep in touch with family and friends through social networking sites, chatting, blogging, etc.  After the course, I was able to really see and understand its great potential to make not only my personal life better but my professional life too.  RSS feed aggregators, wikis, mash-ups, podcasting, etc.

Time as barrier

I think time is the greatest barrier to implementing social software at my work setting.  At the law firm library where I work, time flies by so fast!  Everyone is so busy juggling multiple research projects for different people at once.  Different deadlines looms over our head

Greg & Sarah on E!

Greg & Sarah's presentation last Thursday was really interesting and informative.  I really liked listening to Greg's story of how he ended up becoming one of the librarian podcasting pioneer. I always enjoy stories of how people became who they are.  It was also encouraging to know that he found a job after only two months of graduating.  I listened to the recording of some of his episodes and I really enjoyed it.  It's nice to listen to something that actually pertains to our line of work.  I also checked out Twit.tv, that was really cool!

Faculty Tip Sheet for Podcasting

I found the University of Arizona's faculty tip sheet for podcasting very helpful to faculty and academic librarians.  I really wish that podcasting was popular while I was in college.  It would have really helped me remember my professor's lectures.  I often wished I recorded my lectures so I can go back to it to clarify notes, etc.  Now, professors can not only podcast their lectures, they can also record other helpful tips and supplemental materials to enhance the student's understanding of the subject being taug
