The goal of this extra credit assignment is to give you experience creating a LibGuide (as they are extremely popular in libraries right now), creating teaching materials, and sharing what you learned about a specific topic from the class.

Create a LibGuide for one of the topics we've covered in the class thus far that would be helpful to someone who wanted to learn more about the topic. It could be general (like "blogs" or "RSS") or specific like ("use of blogs in education" or "using RSS to keep up with current research" -- you could even create a guide on how to do research on your topic for the social software impact paper)  At a minumum, the guide should contain at least one tab and include the following items:

  • Useful search terms and/or subject headings for searching for resources on the topic
  • Useful databases to search for articles on the topic with brief annotations
  • Useful websites and/or tools with brief annotations
  • Two articles or blog posts (other than the assigned readings) on that topic with brief annotations
  • An image of you or an avatar to represent you on the page

Email me if you would like to do this extra credit assignment and I'll create a LibGuides account for you on SLIS' LibGuides site.

You can receive up to 20 points (out of 1000, so 2 points out of 100) on this assignment, which could raise many of you up a partial letter grade.

Post a link to your LibGuide on the wiki.
