Small library situations

I came in late on Nanette's presentation but got some good ideas even in that brief time so am looking forward to going back and hearing it from the beginning. My question was about getting participation in a blog where there is a small library with few or one staff. I liked the answer about having them work with other libraries but am really interested in hearing who's out there serving 5000 or fewer people who has some experience. As you all know library directors in small situations wear many hats so giving them some examples of how it's worked for others in similar situations really helps encourage them to move forward.

Nancy, I am glad to hear
Nancy,
I am glad to hear that you are thinking the same exact thing I have been wondering about! I am really interested in getting smaller libraries motivated, too. I saw your post earlier, but didn't have any major success stories to share of my own, yet. We are still working on it. I work in a similar work setting as you do. We have one library who has set up a blog site. We have other libraries that been toying with the idea, but haven't gotten up and running with a "real" page, yet. I would be happy to share that site with you. The library's site is fairly new, though. I think it was started in November. The library it was set up for is in a town of about 1000 people. The library has two employees.

There are also some other smaller libraries I know of in Kansas that have been using a blog for their webpage. They are all using WordPress. These libraries are not in our system, but if you would like more information on any of them I can help you out the best I can.
As we move on and I (hopefully) have more success stories to share with you I will share more!
